Repaving work is planned from west of Helmer Road to 6 1/2 Mile Road, and from M-96 (Michigan Avenue) to 17 1/2 Mile Road. The three-year, $160 million project includes repaving 10 miles of I-94 between Helmer Road and 17 1/2 Mile Road, rebuilding nine bridges, and repairing eight others. Workers will be building temporary crossovers, bridges, and concrete barriers for upcoming I-94 repaving and bridge work in Battle Creek, Emmett Township, and Marshall Township, expected to start in early summer. This work will require single-lane closures on I-94 on Wednesday, March 29, and Thursday, March 30. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be shifting I-94 traffic into the right lane and outside shoulder in each direction between Helmer Road and 17 1/2 Mile Road in Battle Creek. Work starts this week with crews building temporary crossovers and bridges in Battle Creek, requiring single-lane closures on I-94 March 29-30.The work will be between Helmer Road (Exit 95) in Battle Creek and 17 1/2 Mile Road in Marshall Township.MDOT is investing $160 million to repave 10 miles of I-94 and replace or repair 17 bridges.
